Support for Students with Disabilities in Indonesian Universities

Today, the AHDC team visited two universities in Jakarta: Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia and Universitas Esa Unggul.

Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia is a private university based on Islamic values. In collaboration with domestic and international partner organizations, it has been working to enhance the structure of its Disability Services Unit (DSU).

Universitas Esa Unggul is a comprehensive private university focusing primarily on health sciences and physical therapy. Operating under the policy that "all students, regardless of disability, should have equal access to learning," it is actively building an environment that accepts and supports students with disabilities.

We felt a strong commitment from both universities to further improve their DSU services and foster an inclusive educational environment campus-wide.

Before starting this project, we wondered whether there were many universities in Indonesia actively supporting students with disabilities. However, as we progressed with our activities, we realized that far more institutions than we imagined are striving to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students, including those with disabilities.
